Top phobia spots in Switzerland #scaredforreal

If you have any kind of phobia, you might not want to look at these pictures!

Too late? Well, you could always claim that they must be photoshopped and can't possibly be real... There is some bad news though: These are the most phobia-inducing spots in Switzerland, and they are as real as the holes in Swiss cheese!

The outdoor stairs at the Congress Hall in Biel

These in midair suspended stairs leading to two doors are part of an urban art project attached to the Congress Hall in Biel, Switzerland:

This diving tower in Bern

The same artists are responsible for another fear-inducing installation in Berne, Switzerland. They contend that there is no possible way of climbing this 13 m/43 ft diving tower as the ladder is actually suspended several meters above the ground. However, someone who really wanted to secure the best sunset spot would find a way of climbing it no matter what...

The Sottens Antenna in Vaud

The antenna in Sottens stands 125 meters tall and is a sight in its own right. While this type of structure is usually reserved for maintenance technicians, the Sottens Antenna is actually open to adrenaline junkies like you and me.

As part of the booking between May and October, you will attend an introduction before embarking on the four-hour climb to the platform. The second platform at 43 meters is accessible by near everyone, including families.

Additional platforms at 60 meters, 76 meters, 100 meters, and 125 meters are reserved for those with some climbing experience. Once you reach the platform at 100 meters above ground, the organizers will serve an apéro of local fare.

The Landscape Promontory in Ticino

This high scenery platform is part of a project dubbed "Cardada" to relive the southern foothills of the Swiss Alps. We have visited this spot to soak in the most breathtaking views of Ticino. This is certainly another nightmarish spot though if you have a fear of heights...

Switzerland's only jail hotel in Lucerne

Feel like spending a night in a former jail? The Barabas Hotel Jail was repurposed only a decade or so ago, and if you listen closely at night, you can still hear the voices of dead inmates... At least you have the choice from basic prison cells all the way to the ward's suite!

The First Cliffwalk by Tissot at Grindelwald

One of the coolest thrills in the Alps is the First Cliffwalk at Grindelwald First. No worries, this overhanging bridge clings safely to the rock. But walking across with nothing but the Abyss below takes some guts...

The Hammetschwand Panorama Elevator at Bürgenstock

This century-old elevator was built into the side of Mt. Bürgenstock above Lake Lucerne. It is a tiny, fast elevator that will whisk you 150 m/500 ft to the peak!

The views from the top are magnificent - or magnificently scary! But if you still have some energy left, why not hike the Bürgenstock trail to get away from this phobia spot ASAP?!?
