Autumn Festival in Lugano (Festa d’autunno)

Lugano is strikingly beautiful during any season. I am not just saying this; I have seen it with my own eyes.

During autumn, however, the soft sun rays will light up the alleys and piazzas of this town at the foot of Monte Brè. The southern exposure makes temperatures perfect for outdoor gatherings such as the festa d'autunno, the annual autumn festival in Lugano.

"What's happening during Festa d'autunno in Lugano," you ask?

For three days in early October, Lugano is dishing out the best of local cuisine: risotto, polenta, chestnut dishes, and much more. But even the best delicacies only taste half as good without a glass of local wine and a group of friends. And to top it off, the town will be filled with folklore music.

Make sure to visit the market where local food products and handicrafts are available. Think alpine cheese, homemade jelly, wild honey, or knitted products. They make for perfect souvenirs to bring back home - or even for Christmas presents.
