Lugano Gourmet Festival – Città del Gusto

This September, Lugano is going to turn into a foodie mecca. Città del Gusto is Italian for “City of Taste”, and taste it will!

Imagine ten days packed with cooking workshops, food tastings and gourmet experiences. But this food festival is not only for those who consider themselves gourmands. Their mission is to cultivate a healthy and sustainable food culture in general, so anyone with an appetite and 15 francs to spare is invited in.

What’s the program like at Lugano City of Taste?

This annual event is not always held in Lugano. The host city depends on the nomination by the Week of Taste organization. But I feel that Lugano is extra excited to be hosting Città del Gusto in 2018 – just have a look at the lineup of bookable events. From wine cellar tours to a typical Ticino “grotto” dinner dedicated to goat products, there is something for every taste.

Within the city perimeters, it is important to know that the day ticket provides access to each of the three sections, but only once: the Villaggio del Gusto, the Villa del Gusto and the Palazzo del Gusto. At the Villaggio del Gusto, the taste village, there will be nightly appetizers and wine tastings. The Palazzo del Gusto is the venue where many workshops take place. And finally, inside the pink Villa del Gusto, you will find an exhibit looking at food culture from various angles.
