Annual Farmers’ Horse Race in Schwarzenburg near Bern

In a beautiful natural arena below the church at Wahlern, the 49th annual farmers' horse race is an exciting outing for equestrians and horse lovers.

Beginning at 9:15 AM, different breeds of horses will all fight for victory: Freiberger, Haflinger, Icelanders, heavy blood, half blood, Arabs and ponies. Please be aware that the races will be postponed to October 7, 2018, in the case of bad weather.

How to get to the Bauernpferderennen in Schwarzenburg

By car: Direct access on the main road between Bern and Schwarzenburg (parking is 5 francs)
By train: Take the S-Bahn line 6 to Schwarzenburg, then hop on a shuttle bus at the station
By foot: The races are approx. 1.5 km from the Schwarzenburg train station, or approx. 2 km from the Lanzenhäusern train station.
