The Sichlete Harvest Festival in Bern is 100% folklore

Cows wearing flower crowns, looking their best, and posing in front of... the Swiss parliament building!

That's the Sichlete folk festival in Bern. The "Sichlete" festival celebrates the arrival of the harvest time and is a colorful mix of an alpine descent tradition, cow beauty pageant, and livestock exhibition. It even involves a cowbell ringer performance.

Besides witnessing the selection of the most beautiful cows, you can also visit an adorable petting zoo, see cow milking demonstrations and listen to the sound of alphorns while eating some local delicacies right in the heart of the Swiss capital. A pasture features mother cows with their calves.
