The Art of the Brick (Zürich)
Sep 25, 2015 - Jan 10, 2016
CHF17A former industrial factory in Zürich will be turned into a colorful gallery this fall – brick by brick.
But what do Mona Lisa, Andy Warhol and a T-Rex have in common? American artist Nathan Sawaya has recreated all three, plus 100 others, using more than a million colorful LEGO bricks. But if you are expecting a giant playground, try again. The Art of the Brick features incredibly complex LEGO masterpieces, created by this former New York attorney.
Among them is “Yellow”, a skillful rendition of a male torso made up of 11‘000 LEGO bricks.
Sawaya has managed to excite visitors of all ages across more than 30 cities around the world. If you have ever caught yourself staring at a pile of LEGO bricks in a toy store, trying to resist the urge to build something, this exhibit will be perfect for you…
