Wine and Dine Cruise on Lake Lucerne (July 23)
Jul 23, 2022 @ 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Central Switzerland is the quintessential place to experience it all: snow-capped peaks, sun-drenched villages, traditional events, and one stunning Lake Lucerne.
The Lake Lucerne Navigation Company with its fleet of steamboats, ferries, and even a high-tech yacht also offers specialty cruises. We can wholeheartedly recommend their Wine and Dine Cruise on the historic steam paddler Stadt Luzern.
What's on the menu of the Wine and Dine Cruise?
After boarding the steamboat at pier 6 in Lucerne, the experience starts with an apéro at 6:30 PM. Executive Chef Florian Gilges has created some appetizers, especially for this cruise. Think Sbrinz mousse or apricot mustard... It will be up to you whether to toast with a glass of bubbly or the boat company’s own brew!
The products on the night's menu are regional, be it the lamb from Göscheneralp or the locally roasted coffee from Rast Kaffee. This local connection is also the neat thing about this culinary cruise.
Then, as you take a seat and indulge in the chef’s creations, the crew will inform you about special sights and suppliers. This creates a sensory connection between the dishes and their origin.
Here are some impressions of our Wine & Dine Cruise in August 2021:
The town of Meggen with its vineyards cultivates the organic Solaris AOC Luzern vintage. And just as the boat passes by, you get to listen to the sommelière's description of the wine, meanwhile tasting it for yourself.
The four-course dinner features ingredients from many regional suppliers. For instance, the family-run Bühlhof farm in the village of Greppen supplies the turkey meat.
The Wine and Dine Cruise on Lake Lucerne not only offers fine dining with wine pairings but also scenic views of central Switzerland. In mid July, the sunset takes place shortly after 9 PM, making for amazing photo ops from the deck. Arrival back at the pier in Lucerne is scheduled for 10 PM, but the boat remains open for one last nightcap...
