Impressions from the Jungfrau Region Instameet

Just on the brink of fall and winter, I had the chance to meet up with Instagram celebrity Chris Burkard in Lauterbrunnen.

It is undeniable that the town of Lauterbrunnen has evolved from farm village to tourist attraction. I can tell this because apart from Swiss foods such as apricot pie or Nussgipfel, the town tavern has expanded their menu to include hamburgers and hot dogs.

My seat neighbor at the Stammtisch is a communal worker on a coffee break. While I am waiting for the bus to the Instameet location, he updates the staff about the condition of the waterfall trails which we would hike later on.

We have arrived at #swissim15... Let the Instameet begin!

Meanwhile, a few tourists have gathered near the town church to witness the birth of a lamb. What a precious moment!

Let the #swissim15 Instameet with Chris Burkard begin!

The location for the #swissim15 Instameet feels almost symbolic. In a valley famous for its larger-than-life waterfalls, I am walking alongside a photographer with 1.1 million followers on Instagram. (We have about 2500.) Chris tells me that his followers did not exactly show up overnight: "For a long while, I saw small yet steady increases in my follower count. But then, the numbers started increasing exponentially and have not slowed down since..."

Our friends at @flyswiss and @jungfrauregion have invited about 50 Instagramers from as near as Interlaken and as far as Rotterdam. The #swissim15 Instameet would become an unforgettable experience...

One of my pictures won a tandem flight! Was this possibly the one?

Or this one? Only the jury would know.

Would love a cup of hot tea ☕, but this door is shut... #swissim15

I stayed the night in Grindelwald. The next morning when I woke up, this view presented itself from my balcony:

In the lower part of the Grindelwald valley, the autumn colors were simply spectacular.

Crossing the Brünig pass from Interlaken to Lucerne was the final highlight before diving back into the fog...

It's 100 percent autumn here at Brünig... 🚗 @MySwitzerland_e
