There comes a time when the ski season is over and the long hot days of summer are stretching ahead. It is a time when even the most ardent hikers among us start to long for the timeless glamour and sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Where better to soak up the ritzy lifestyle of the super-rich than in the laid back yet effortlessly chic atmosphere of the Cote d’Azur? If you are looking for a place to stay that offers something for the entire family, we think we may have the answer. It is close to all those Riviera hotspots at a price that will not break the bank. It is the Beachcomber French Riviera Resort.
The Beachcomber French Riviera Resort
Calling it a hotel would be a disservice given the Beachcomber’s restaurant, two swimming pools and sports facilities. You will be hard pressed to find an equivalent anywhere else on the Riviera. The property is closely linked with the prestigious Beachcomber Group in Mauritius. The resort offers superior, executive and family rooms at very reasonable prices. And if you fancy pushing the boat out, then maybe one of the elegant junior suites will be just right for you…
What makes this place special? Is it the recently refurbished rooms with their tasteful, modern decorations, or possibly the balconies and comfortable beds and pillows? The large, luxurious spa offering a range of multi-sensory experiences to relax the body and sooth the mind? Or maybe the restaurant serving great Mediterranean food and desserts to write home about?
Where tennis fans might run into Serena Williams
The resort is not only geared towards those who love luxury, but also towards the active ones among us. Even though we love hiking in Switzerland, the coastal paths along the Riviera with its turquois waters are something to experience.
There is also a superb sporting facility in close proximity to the resort. The Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, the largest in Europe, opens its courts and other facilities to all guests at no extra charge. There, they have the chance to practice tennis or take classes at the training academy of Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach of Serena Williams. Who knows, you could be playing alongside the tennis pros of tomorrow…
How to get there from Switzerland
The Beachcomber Resort French Riviera is surprisingly easy to get to from Switzerland. Set in leafy grounds on an estate in the hills above Nice, it is a six-hour car journey from Geneva, and seven hours from Zürich. There is free parking available. And if you arrive by car, all the delights of the Côte d’Azur are easy to get to. Antibes and the sea are just fifteen minutes away. Or the Cannes city centre is easily reachable within a twenty-minute car journey from the resort.
The Beachcomber French Riviera is a good destination for anyone who wants to combine a trip to the French Côte d’Azur with an opportunity to experience some outstanding sports and leisure facilities.
