Spend a night at Zürich Museums – Lange Nacht der Museen
Sep 3, 2022 @ 6:00 PM - Sep 4, 2022 @ 2:00 AM
Every first Saturday of September, several dozen Zürich museums open their doors for a special night of cultural events: Lange Nacht der Museen.
Night owls, listen up: whether you are interested in art and culture, are crazy about science and technology, or just fancy a romantic ferry ride, you will surely be able to enjoy Zürich's museums at night.
The so-called "Long Night of Zürich Museums" starts at 6 PM and does not close until 2 AM the following morning. Nearly fifty Zürich museums and cultural venues usually participate in what is one of the most popular Zürich events each year.
Some highlights at Lange Nacht der Museen
The Pavillon Le Corbusier in Seefeld usually opens their doors late at night:
Museum für Gestaltung is one of our favorites:
And finally, we love the Zurich Tram Museum where all the antique trams are stored:
Each of the museums has its own program of events that may include tours, lectures, and talks. There will be something for everyone, from photography workshops for kids to some special shows for people with hearing or visual impairments.
Experience Zürich culture at night
It is no secret that Zürich is a city with money, so culture is very well supported. Housing some of the finest museums and art galleries in Switzerland, Zürich enjoys a vibrant cultural scene. The two most popular museums in Zurich are the Kunsthaus Zürich art museum, as well as the Swiss National Museum.
Ferry service to Seefeld
Usually, a special ferry service connects some of the participating museums in the Seefeld area (Seefeldquartier). Riding on the "MS Sentosa" ferry is yet another cool benefit of "Lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen"! Once you have tried the ferry and museum shuttle, grab a free bicycle courtesy of "Züri rollt" and pedal to your next destination.
The museums and art galleries of Zurich enjoy almost 1.5 million visitors a year. So if you have not had time to check them out yet, September 3, 2022, could be your chance.
